Common Questions
Winter Tour FAQ
Aurora activity depends on solar conditions and weather — no one can guarantee a sighting. However, our guides use real-time forecasting tools and will drive up to 3 hours to find clear, dark skies. If we can't produce photographic evidence of the aurora, you get a free redo tour.
Dress in warm layers — base layer, mid layer, and a heavy outer layer. Hand warmers are always a good idea. For the UTV and snowmobile tours, full gear is provided. For Northern Lights tours, a heated portable shelter is included but you'll spend time outside for the best aurora views.
Peak aurora season runs August through April, with November through March being the darkest and most reliable months. The longer the night, the better your chances. Fairbanks tours have a slight advantage due to being directly under the auroral oval.
Yes — every single tour is led by an experienced local guide the entire time. Our guides are licensed, insured, and deeply knowledgeable about Alaska's backcountry, weather, and wildlife.
No experience needed for the UTV tour — if you can drive a car, you can drive a UTV. For the snowmobile tour, all skill levels are welcome and safety training is provided before departure. All equipment is brand new and gear is provided.
